Ana Paula Simões is the former director-general of the National Institute of Land and Road Transport (INATTER), now INATRO-IP, who has been arrested and charged with crimes of abuse of office or function, passive corruption for an unlawful act, harmful administration, among other types of crimes, confirm research carried out by MZNews.
We said in the report published yesterday that in addition to the former director of the now defunct INNATER, four other officials accused of committing the same crimes were taken to prison.
In 2021, 16 employees of the institution, including theoretical and practical exam preparers, examiners, IT technicians and secretariat staff, were arrested for their involvement in the fraudulent issuing of biometric driving licenses in exchange for money between 2016 and 2017.
It should be noted that Ana Paula Simões was director general of the now defunct INATTER between 2015 and 2021, and succeeded Ana Matusse Dimande, who was also removed from office due to acts of corruption.
