More than 37 thousand farmers from eleven districts in the provinces of Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Zambézia have made profits of over 34 million dollars through the Innovation for Agribusiness project (InovAgro) implemented between 2010 and 2021.
According to the project's manager, Morgen Gomo, who was speaking this morning in Maputo, at the meeting to present the results, the reach of these revenues is the result of the increase in the farmers' productivity as a result of the training programs developed by the initiative over the past 11 years.
"In the 11 years of the project's implementation, savings groups have been created for the purchase of agricultural inputs, with more than 19,000 members and trained about 21,000 small producers," Morgen Gomo said.
The official explained that the buying stations increased from 264 to 515 in the three provinces and the sale of seeds went from 274 tons to 811 tons per year.
