Two Mozambicans have been missing since Monday's accident at the Impala Platinum mine in Rosternberg, North West Province, South Africa.
So far, 16 people have died and 75 have been injured. With regard to the missing Mozambicans, the Radio Mozambique said this morning that there is still no certainty as to whether or not they are still alive.
"They know that there are two Mozambicans, but we don't know if they are involved in the incident or not, since they are reported missing. However, we suspect they are," said Benjamin Macuácua, a Mozambican miner with responsibilities at the mine, quoted by the broadcaster.

He said, however, that the best thing to do for now is to wait for official information. "Allow us to wait until we have reliable information."
The last five deaths occurred on Tuesday in a health unit. The death toll is expected to continue to rise as more miners are in critical condition.
The Miners' Association and the Construction Union believe that the accident could have been avoided and are calling for the company's managers to be held criminally responsible and charged with manslaughter.
The South African government has promised to launch an investigation into the causes of the incident.
This year 57 miners have died as a result of accidents at work, while last year there were 49 deaths in the sector.
