After all, were internet restrictions deliberate? Government says they aim to prevent the destruction of the country

Afinal, restrições de internet foram propositadas? Governo diz que visam evitar a destruição do país

The government, through the Minister of Transport and Communications, has revealed that the current recurrent restrictions on the internet are aimed at preventing the destruction of the country.

After the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications said that the internet would be restored in the country once conditions had been created, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, confirmed on Sunday that the internet restrictions were deliberate.

According to a publication in the newspaper "The Country"However, the government appeals to Mozambicans to be civilized so that there is no interruption of communications in a context in which the internet is already starting to be restored.

"The telecommunications operators have also restricted the internet for security reasons," added Magala, who was speaking to journalists in Ressano Garcia, Maputo province, where he had gone to find out about the damage caused by the destruction of public and private property and infrastructure.

Mozambique has been experiencing internet restrictions since demonstrations began following the announcement of the election results by the National Electoral Commission (CNE), giving victory to Frelimo and its presidential candidate Daniel Chapo with more than 70%.
