Porta-voz da PRM refugia-se no interior do blindado após a fúria dos manifestantes

The spokesman for the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) in Maputo city, Leonel Muchina, took refuge inside the UIR armored car that was brutally attacking the population, after the people threw stones at it.

The popular revolt took place after a military armored vehicle ran over a young demonstrator along Avenida Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo city. The young woman was injured and taken to Maputo Central Hospital.

The incident happened when a group of demonstrators were rioting in the middle of the road near the Ponto Final area to protest against the situation in the country.

At first, the authorities fired tear gas to disperse the demonstrators. The armored car then proceeded at high speed to deliberately run over the protester who was standing in the middle of the road displaying placards.

The action provoked a fury in the demonstrators, who cornered the police officers who were there to negotiate the population's departure and minutes later the armored vehicle caught fire.

The police, without tear gas, also began to pelt the demonstrators with stones.
