At a time when Mozambique is experiencing demonstrations throughout the country against the results of the general elections announced by the National Electoral Commission (CNE), the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, this Monday (04) called for a return to work.
"Every day that we don't work, the economy suffers and, if we carry on like this, for example, the discussion in a week's time would no longer be the problem of elections, it would be the problem of hunger," said Adriano Maleiane, in a publication in the RFI.
The head of government calls for the protests to stop and appeals for dialogue: "My suggestion is: let's give the Constitutional Council (CC) time to finish, all the demonstrations should stop. I think they can wait just a little while to finish this election process, so it's our culture to engage in dialogue."
It should be remembered that the presidential candidate supported by PODEMOS, Venâncio Mondlane, has called for a general strike and demonstrations for a week in Mozambique, between October 31 and November 7, the day on which he expects a mega-concentration in the capital to demonstrate against the announced results of the October 9 general elections.
Venâncio Mondlane called this the third stage of the protest against the results announced by the CNE. This phase follows the protests held on October 21, 24 and 25, following the double murder of two supporters, lawyer Elvino Dias and teacher Paulo Guambe, shot dead in an ambush in Maputo on the night of October 18.
