The Administrator of the Quissanga district, in Cabo Delgado province, confirmed today that terrorist incursions have taken place in one of the neighborhoods of the district headquarters, and that insurgents are circulating in the localities.

Cited by STVSidónio Lindo José said that there had been no deaths and that the terrorists had held meetings with the population. The message remains unknown, but what is certain is that residents have already begun to leave their homes.

"The terrorists actually entered a neighborhood that is far from between three and six kilometers from the district headquarters. They didn't kill anyone then. They met with the population and continued south. They didn't reach the district headquarters, which is still calm and serene. We visited the three neighborhoods that surround the district headquarters and interacted with the local leaders to find out what state the people are in. We found that they are in their communities. Some who had taken refuge are returning... and resuming their activities normally," he said.

He said that the administration had not been able to ascertain the content of the message that the terrorists left for the population. "But one thing we do know is that they spoke to the population and ended up heading elsewhere."

From the Quissanga administrator's point of view, the fact that the district headquarters are garrisoned by Mozambican troops will have thwarted any attempt at an assault. "They didn't reach the district headquarters, which is still calm and serene".
