Nine people died on Monday morning in the district of Sussundenga, in Manica province, as a result of a road accident involving a passenger minibus.

The car crashed and overturned on the Chimoio-Sussundenga road.

According to the District Health Director in Sussundenga, Ester Trabuk, the hospital received 15 patients who were victims of the accident. Six died on the spot, and three children died on arrival at the health center.

He said that of the 15, three patients were transferred to the Manica provincial hospital in a serious condition. Three people have been admitted to the health center.

The President of the Republic expressed his regret at what had happened, sent his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the victims who were still in hospital a speedy recovery.

In the city of Matola, in the Tchumente neighborhood, another road accident, which took place around 4 a.m. yesterday morning, killed two people.
