Access Bank offers cloth bags to customers

As part of the celebrations for the International Day without Plastic Bags, Access Bank is offering cloth bags to customers. The action takes place during this week, from July 4th to 9th, and aims to encourage the bank's customers and the general public to choose reusable alternatives that favor the environment, reducing the use of plastic.

The bank is offering cloth bags to all customers who make purchases worth 500 Meticais, with the SPAR VIP Card, or even customers who use the POS Access to make a payment of 1500MT or more.

The action will be implemented in SPAR VIP stores in Maputo, Matola, Chimoio, Beira, Tete, Nampula and Nacala.

According to Bruno Gaspar, Access Bank Mozambique Corporate Communication Director, "with this action the bank wants to alert to the harmful effects of plastic abuse, focusing on raising awareness among customers and the population in general. "The plastic is one of the biggest threats to the environment, being alarming the effects it causes on the planet and, in particular, in the oceans. We are all responsible, so we must act urgently to reduce the consumption of plastic and find alternatives", alerted the same responsible.

Access Bank has been investing in actions related to the preservation of nature with the objective of alerting and informing the population about environmental problems so that everyone understands the importance of the conservation of environmental resources.

Already this year, the bank has carried out several street and beach cleaning actions in the provinces where it is present. An initiative that happened in partnership with REPENSAR - Cooperative of Environmental Education, and that also included the planting of mangrove and casuarina tree seedlings, involving the bank's employees.

Also internally, Access Bank favors the use of more environmentally friendly resources, adapting solutions such as the use of computers that consume less energy. Among other measures, the bank has also implemented a water purification system to reduce the use of plastic bottles of mineral water.

As a responsible banking institution, Access Bank is fully committed to environmental causes and therefore views nature conservation as a priority action in safeguarding the sustainability of the planet.
