Access Bank Mozambique has just launched a pioneering environmental sustainability project involving the reuse of coffee capsules.
In partnership with Reciclagem & Serviços Lda., the Bank uses its branches as collection points for used coffee capsules, promoting a circular economy and encouraging sustainable practices.
The project, which will initially last six months, will allow customers and employees to deposit the coffee capsules they use in repositories located in Access Bank's five branches in the cities of Maputo and Matola.
The initiative, which will benefit more than 5,000 people in the Chiango community, aims to transform coffee capsules into various handicrafts, jewelry and other objects, and the grounds will be used as fertilizer for agriculture.
Marco Abalroado, Managing Director of Access Bank Mozambique, believes that "this project is in line with the Bank's environmental strategy, which aims to identify, understand and effectively improve our sustainability performance".
"We want to help reduce waste and, at the same time, actively involve our employees, customers and local communities in adopting more environmentally friendly behavior," he said.
In the project, Reciclagem & Serviços Lda. - a company committed to environmental sustainability, will play a key role in logistics and training for the treatment of used coffee capsules.
Rui Silva, General Manager and Environmental Activist, said that this partnership "aims to educate and make people aware of the importance of responsible waste management".
"We are confident that, together, we can make a difference and promote a more sustainable future for everyone," he said.
Access Bank is committed to implementing solutions that help protect the environment, as part of its commitment to Mozambique and environmental sustainability with its clients and the communities where it operates.
