Access Bank supports malnourished children in Gaza

Access Bank apoia crianças subnutridas em Gaza

As part of its commitment to Social Responsibility, Access Bank Mozambique donated essential goods to the Pfuka U Famba Nutritional Rehabilitation Center, in the village of Macia, Gaza province. The action was carried out in partnership with the Bank's employees, family and friends, and will contribute to reversing the scenario of moderate and severe child malnutrition among the children supported by the Center.

The donation included various types of seeds for the Center's vegetable garden, infant milk and magic wands for preparing porridge and soups. Toys were also given away.

Pfuka U Famba welcomes and supports moderately to severely malnourished children. In addition to supplying milk and other foodstuffs, the center focuses on empowering the children's mothers and caregivers through monthly training and daily monitoring. The training includes the preparation of enriched porridge and soups, support for the emotional component of motherhood and the promotion of self-sufficiency through the creation of small businesses.

"At Access Bank, we believe that Social Responsibility goes beyond a simple obligation, it is an integral part of our mission. Pfuka U Famba plays a fundamental role in the lives of these children and we are grateful to be able to help by providing them with greater comfort, contributing to their health and recovery."said Marco Abalroado, Managing Director of Access Bank in Mozambique.

Every month, Pfuka U Famba welcomes around 30 malnourished children under the age of three, referred by the local health center. There, they have access to three meals a day, baths and a leisure area that stimulates their abilities.

According to the representative of the Pfuka U Famba Center, Joana Jordão, the donation came at a crucial time. "It is an example of the positive impact that companies can have on society. We would like to thank Access Bank and everyone who has contributed to improving the lives of the children we serve on a daily basis" she said.

"The seed support will boost our efforts to grow specific foods to combat malnutrition in a sustainable way. We also hope that this support will help more children in this community in a similar or more serious situation", added Joana Jordão.

Sensitive to social causes, Access Bank has been investing in and supporting projects linked to the development and well-being of the communities in which it operates.
