Absa Bank provides cultural stage with the opening of Pekiwa's exhibition

Absa Bank Mozambique inaugurated the exhibition by Mozambican artist Pekiwa on December 1, and for this purpose promoted the 2nd edition of Pop-Up Arte, where it transformed the Promenade of the Premier Center in downtown Maputo into a cultural stage.

In a relaxed atmosphere, those present were treated to the 'Recriação' exhibition by one of the leading names in contemporary Mozambican art. With a vast career, the artist's work is inspired by the canoes of Mozambique Island, a place he considers to be inspirational and an inexhaustible source of stories about life and the world, carved from the trunks of cashew and mango trees, and old doors, windows and other traditional domestic utensils that he transforms into works of art. Thanks to her talent, they are given new life in the form of sculptures.

The bank presents an innovative concept and elevates national culture at the Absa Bank Mozambique Premier Center Walk.

Pekiwa or Nelson Augusto Carlos Ferreira, born in Maputo on January 30, 1977, has been sculpting since childhood. At a very young age, Pekiwa took part in various national and international workshops and began exhibiting his work in 1997.

His work goes beyond borders and is present in private collections and public and private institutions in Mozambique, Portugal, South Africa, Botswana, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Sweden, Senegal, Spain, the Netherlands, the USA, England, Japan, Italy and Australia, among others.
