Absa Bank Mozambique, inaugurated, in its Premier Branch, the exhibition "RECICLARTE". This is a project concept that is dedicated to the creation of art through an ecological movement in order to raise awareness and encourage society to use solid waste rationally through its reuse.
The exhibition, made exclusively for the Bank by Mozambican artist, Sebastião Coana, elevates Mozambican culture and art with a solid sustainability component that aligns with the Bank's vision of cultural arts promotion, skills development, and civic education.
The agenda on climate change has gained great prominence worldwide and Absa Bank Mozambique has demonstrated its commitment to contribute to make Mozambique an example in the fight against this catastrophe. As a signatory of the United Nations Global Compact, the Bank's strategies and operations are aligned with universal principles in favor of environmental conservation.
In conjunction with this exhibition, the Absa launches an official website "absaartes" with the aim of taking their exhibitions, artists, culture and African art to the four corners of the world. Associated with this page is the "Qrcode" technology that is incorporated into each showcase and with which we hope to promote initiatives of young national talents, seeking to continuously raise awareness of social values, citizenship and environmental education, principles that the bank prioritizes in its performance in the national financial banking sector as well as in innovative initiatives such as the "RECICLARTE" project.
According to the Director of Customer Service of Absa Bank Mozambique, Tânia Oliveira, "this collection of works of art, aims to raise awareness of the society about the preponderant role that each one of us has, regarding climate change and the environment - it is ultimately a cry of appeal to the conscience of humanity." Still within the scope of the opening of the exhibition, Tania added that "recycling is not in itself sufficient, but it is an important step for at least each one of us to create a sustainable consciousness and to realize the amount of garbage we produce daily. However, it should be noted that the biggest impact is in the waste (especially plastic and metal) that is disposed of incorrectly or simply abandoned in our streets, oceans, and beaches. Sebastião Coana, discovered in waste a form of art, where literally nothing is lost and everything is transformed and it was here that he found a sustainable way to convert what for many is waste, into luxury."
For his part, Sebastião Coana, said "we intend with this movement to bring art to all social classes of society, minimizing the use of natural sources, favoring sustainable development, social and economic. We believe that recycling is a fundamental part in the preservation and improvement of our planet, and by associating recycling and art, we also want to place Mozambique as a regional and international reference in the use of plastic arts and culture as one of the pillars of artistic requalification".
In this exhibition, the artist Coana has transformed waste into works of art, where the concept represented goes beyond recycling, since the objects created surpass the economic, cultural and social value of the material originally used, the trash.
Inaugurated on March 03, at the Premier Branch of Absa Bank Mozambique, located at Julius Nyerere Avenue, the 3-month long exhibition can also be seen virtually here.
