Nineteen female authors will take part in the writing workshop "A Vez das Mulheres", promoted by the Mozambican authors' platform Catalogus, in partnership with the Spanish Embassy in Mozambique and with the support of the Guimarães Rosa Institute, on September 23, 24, 26 and 27, from 4pm to 6pm.
"Women's Turn" has the main objectives of empowering young women by offering a welcoming and inspiring space to develop their skills in narrative writing, provide the opportunity to learn from experienced writers and overcome fears and give voice to their stories, both in the field of fiction and non-fiction.
According to a press release, the workshop facilitators will be the writer Lucílio Manjate, the teacher and literature researcher Teresa Manjate and the poet Álvaro Taruma, who will cover topics such as writing techniques, character building and the combination of fiction and non-fiction.
Through this workshop, participants will have the chance to carry out practical writing and rewriting exercises, encouraging continuous improvement.
The workshop will also encourage the exploration of personal experiences as a source of inspiration for narratives that promote social impact.
Secrets of the writing and publishing process will be shared, from the conception of the initial idea to the final revision of the text, as well as encouraging the publication of productions in both printed and digital formats.
The selection process for the 19 authors lasted around four days and attracted 60 applications from young women from different regions of the country.
The authors selected are: Anastácia Sigodo, Anchura Mires, Antonieta Chrindza, Aulina Macuácua, Benilde Vieira, Carina Muileca, Deizy Joane, Edna Aníbal, Fátima Mangue, Fernanda Hermano, Happy Taimo, Iraneta Campos, Jenny Alfred, Julieta Panguene, Letícia Manhiça, Maria Tomé, Natércia Chicane, Neyma Nguetsa and Tarcilia Gustavo.
At the end of the workshop, it is hoped that the participants will have developed their narrative skills in various literary genres, produced at least one original text, which will be worked on throughout the sessions, gained the confidence to express their ideas and stories through writing, acquired practical tools to transform their experiences into literary narratives with publication potential and will be able to see their texts published, subject to an evaluation of their final quality, on digital platforms or in the press.
