TotalEnergies representative Maxime Rabilloid recently reaffirmed the company's commitment to supporting development projects in Cabo Delgado province.
In a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Environment and Fisheries, Roberto Albino, he said that teams would be set up in the next few days to consolidate the aspects under discussion in the ministerial sector.
In Rabilloud's view, it is crucial to have the government's vision to better coordinate the development activities already planned by the oil company.
Meanwhile, it should be remembered that last week a French court launched an investigation into TotalEnergies over its alleged refusal in March 2021 to provide support to subcontractors who were victims of a terrorist attack near its facilities in the town of Palma.
Another recent fact about the company is that one of the financiers of the Liquefied Natural Gas exploration project in Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin, the US Exim Bank, has agreed to provide five billion dollars to move forward with the exploration plan.
The TotalEnergies project has been suspended since April 2021 due to terrorist attacks. The CEO of Patrick Pouyanné has repeatedly said that the resumption is dependent on the security situation in Cabo Delgado. The Mozambican authorities say the conditions are in place for the company to return. However, the company is still struggling to attract more budget for the project valued at around 20 billion dollars.
