The President of the Mozambican Association of Judges (AMJ), Esmeraldo Matavele, says that the class is gaining levels of perception of the evil of corruption, which is why cases involving judges tend to reduce.

He noted that up until 2022 an average of three judges were expelled due to corruption, but since then there have been no new cases, not even ongoing disciplinary proceedings.

Most of the corruption cases involving judges involved the use of funds from the safe for personal purposes.

"Judges are aware not to engage in acts of corruption, and not to illegally use funds from the vault," he said. News.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the National Conference of Mozambican Judges, and on that occasion condemned the disproportionate use of police force to contain the demonstrations.

"We ask for restraint from the police and citizens who must exercise their right to demonstrate in an orderly and peaceful manner, without vandalizing property and blocking roads," he appealed.
