Yesterday in the capital Pemba, the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, lamented the fact that the huge sums invested in Cabo Delgado province are not generating the expected development and benefiting the local population.

"We're talking about 2,300,000,000 dollars. That's a lot of money anywhere in the world. When you add up the financial volume of all the projects in the province. In these projects, if the amounts were properly applied we would have more visible things on the ground," he said.

Chapo was speaking during an extended meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations and other cooperation partners.

"That's why we're here to talk about these aspects, to find out if we have the same or different sensitivities," he said, asking about the steps to be taken to improve performance.çãThe Executive's statement. "We can probably improve the result on the ground, this volume that I'm talking about here".

Chapo stressed that of the money still available for Cabo Delgado, around 1.3 billion dollars should be spent on the sustainability of the population.

Yesterday, on the second day of his visit to the province, Chapo chaired the Council of Ministers, met with community authorities and religious leaders, and held a meeting with officials and state agents at the Alberto Chipande Teacher Training Institute.

Today, on the final day, the Head of State will inaugurate, among other things, a tourist resort in the Palma district.
