Ordem dos Advogados e CNDH estreitam relações

On the morning of Tuesday, February 25, the Mozambican Bar Association (OAM), represented by its President, Carlos Martins, received a delegation from the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH), led by the commission's President, Albachir Macassar, to analyze the country's current human rights situation, among other issues.

The two institutions discussed the possibility of establishing a partnership in order to ensure better results in the follow-up of cases in which both organizations are involved.

Also in the wake of this meeting, the CNDH requested detailed information on the cases under the responsibility of the OAM or monitored by it, related to human rights violations, with a focus on the provinces, in particular the province of Nampula, for monitoring purposes.

Finally, the parties agreed on the need to maintain inter-institutional dialog and to ensure OAM's participation in the Annual Forum for Discussion and Reflection on Human Rights in Mozambique, which will be held by the CNDH later this year.

At this meeting, the OAM was represented, in addition to the President, by the Vice President of the National Council, Arlindo Guilamba, the National Council Advisor and Treasurer, Thera Tobias Dai. On behalf of the National Human Rights Commission, the President of the commission was accompanied by two senior staff members of that institution, Ms. Sandra Joaquim and Mr. M.
