Police commander appeals for public cooperation in the fight against kidnappings

Comandante-geral da Polícia apela colaboração da população para o combate aos raptos

The Commander General of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), Joaquim Sive, defends the restoration of trust between the corporation and the population as fundamental to ending the wave of kidnappings and violent demonstrations in the country.

Speaking this Tuesday (25) in the city of Xai-Xai, Gaza province, during a police parade, the Commander General of the PRM stressed that the police must create all the mechanisms for communication and collaboration with the communities in order to gain the sympathy and trust of the population, so that they can help report any criminal act that could jeopardize public order, security and tranquillity.

"Kidnappings are being combated, we have been preventively in various parts of the city to combat this legal type of crime to bring this situation under control, this is the police's bet," said Joaquim Sive, quoted in a publication by the AIMHe stressed that "we are going to revitalize our councils at various levels and we are going to create others so that the restoration of trust becomes a reality".
