The Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) has announced the reactivation of all 52 road checkpoints in the country that were removed in September last year. The measure, announced by the General Command of the Police of the Republic on February 21, aims to restore order on national roads.
"The measure is the result of widespread non-compliance with traffic rules on the country's main roads, thus contributing to the occurrence of road accidents with a major social and economic impact," the statement said.
According to the PRM, at road checkpoints only traffic control officers should carry out inspections, and other forces should do their work with their authorization.
