Nampula: Japão doa USD 72, 780 mil para construção de salas de aulas

The Japanese government has announced funding of 72,780 thousand dollars for the project to build classrooms at the Mecubúri Rural Family Polytechnic Institute in Nampula province.

The funding aims to improve the school environment and performance so that students can acquire skills in suitable environments.

An agreement has already been signed between the two countries to make the project a reality, as part of the Assistance Program for Community Projects and Human Security (APC).

Edina Cardoso, on behalf of the Mozambican government and the Japanese Ambassador accredited to Mozambique, Hamada Keiji.

"In this project, we are going to improve the environment of this school by building a classroom and a toilet and shower building, so that more young people can learn to acquire skills in these suitable environments," said the Japanese Ambassador accredited to Mozambique, Hamada Keiji.

The diplomat explained that the Japanese government recognizes the need for human and social development, including improving the quality of education in Mozambique, and therefore considers it a priority area in its development plan.

He said that the funds earmarked for the project are taxes paid by all Japanese citizens and therefore asked that it be ensured that the classrooms and other facilities rehabilitated as part of the project are properly managed and maintained.

The project plans to benefit more than 200 students by carrying out various activities such as practical classes, applying new technologies, rural extension and improving the quality of care for boarding students, as well as serving other young people from the institute's surrounding communities.
