The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, argues that further investigation is needed into the problem of overtime that has demotivated the performance of some teachers.
"We need to understand if, in some cases, there isn't also bad faith or if it isn't a question of negotiations by some leaders in the long chain of the education sector, so that there is this phenomenon, which is growing more and more," the Mozambican head of state said today.
Speaking on the occasion of the central ceremonies for the opening of the 2025 school year in Lugela district, Zambezia province, under the slogan: "For Inclusive, Patriotic and Quality Education", Daniel Chapo also acknowledged that "there are teachers who work overtime and deserve to be paid for it".
On the same occasion, Chapo promised to reintroduce the subjects of Patriotic Education and Moral Civics into the school curriculum, as a way of ensuring that children learn to love their homeland, its symbols and its references.
