The Zumbo district could become Tete's third largest coal basin this year, according to public broadcaster Rádio Moçambique.
The project is the result of the implementation of a coal mining mega-project in the region.
To this end, the processes at central and provincial level for issuing environmental and mining concession certificates to the company are at an advanced stage.
Speaking to Rádio Mocambique, the Zumbo district administrator, Lucas Muidingue, said that the first open-cast coal mine to be set up in the town of Mucangaze will comply with all safety measures.
