The President of France, Emmanuel Macron, has sent a message of congratulations to his Mozambican counterpart, Daniel Chapo, on his election to office in the general elections on October 9, 2024.
In the message, Macron said he was pleased to be able to strengthen the "already very rich" bilateral relationship with President Chapo.
"This is the case in the economic field in the first place, where our exchanges are intensifying, and in the field of solidarity investment where the French Development Agency is implementing 31 projects for a total amount of 368 million euros. Our cooperation on maritime security has also been strengthened by the Intergovernmental Defense Agreement signed in December 2023. I hope that we can deepen our partnership on the regional and international scene," reads the letter quoted by AIM.
Macron said that, after the recent challenges faced by the country, he hoped that, under the leadership of President Chapo, the Mozambican government would be able to respond to the aspirations of all Mozambicans, and assured France of its willingness to support Mozambique.
