Mais Integridade submits appeal to prevent destruction of material from the October 9, 2024 elections

Mais Integridade submete recurso para impedir destruição de material das eleições de 9 de Outubro de 2024

The Mais Integridade Electoral Consortium has filed an appeal with the Administrative Court to prevent the National Electoral Commission (CNE) from destroying the material used in the October 9, 2024 general elections.

"The destruction of the material eliminates any possibility of auditing or investigating the authenticity of the notices and minutes used to alter the election results by the Constitutional Council (CC)," says the group of civil society organizations.

The group believes that the material in question could be useful for analysis by international bodies, such as the African Court on Human and Peoples' Rights.

"The voting material in question could be useful for reconstructing the history of the past electoral process, including for situations of administrative, civil and criminal liability of those involved," he says.

The material from the general elections could be destroyed next Friday (17), two days after the new President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, takes office.
