The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, has expressed solidarity with the victims of cyclone Chido, which hit the provinces of Cabo Delgado and Nampula, causing human losses and the destruction of public and private infrastructure.

During the session of the Council of Ministers held yesterday, Tuesday (17), the head of state announced that multi-sector teams would be sent to the affected areas to assess the situation on the ground and provide assistance to the people affected.

Nyusi said that the teams from the National Institute for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (INGD) remain active and mobilized on various fronts, under the leadership of the institution's president.

"I want to express my solidarity with the families who have lost loved ones and with all those who have been affected by this disaster. The government is present and mobilized to guarantee the necessary support at this difficult time," said the head of the Mozambican state.
