The State Council suggests a "timely and inclusive revision of the electoral law" that will focus on de-partisanship and the professionalization of electoral management bodies as a way of ending electoral and post-electoral conflicts.

The Council of State considers it necessary to adopt these measures to promote the transparency and credibility of electoral processes, the statement said.

For the Council of State, the current post-election crisis challenges the Mozambican state to carry out "profound reforms" in order to "prevent such acts from happening again in the future."

The Council of State urged the Defense and Security Forces to be prepared for the challenges facing the country. However, they must improve their ability to interact with communities, favoring dialogue and resorting to force only in cases of extreme necessity and when all other mechanisms have been exhausted.

These decisions were taken by the members of the Council of State during their analysis of the current political situation facing the country.
