Ministry of Culture opens call for audiovisual and cinematographic funding

Ministério da Cultura abre concurso para financiamento audiovisual e cinematográfico

Applications are now open for the second edition of the Audiovisual and Cinematographic Activity Financing Fund (CONFIAAC).

The initiative aims to boost the national audiovisual and cinematographic sector by making significant funds available to support the production, distribution and exhibition of content.

Entries are open until January 17, 2025, providing a unique opportunity for filmmakers and producers to explore their talent and creativity.

According to a publication in Jornal Mocambique, the funding program, launched last October, reflects the government's commitment to improving the conditions for audiovisual production in the country. This strategic move not only promotes artistic creation, but also seeks to generate employment and income, especially for urban youth who have shown great interest in the sector.

In all, the competition will fund different categories, including the production of short films, documentaries, music videos, as well as projects aimed at the distribution and exhibition of audiovisual works.

In the production category, four short fiction projects will be supported, each worth up to 600,000 meticais; two documentaries, with funding of up to 650,000 meticais each; and four video clip projects, which will receive up to 200,000 meticais per project, according to the publication.

In the distribution component, two projects will receive up to 500,000 meticais each. Finally, in the exhibition category, two projects for the adaptation and rehabilitation of buildings will also be funded, with amounts of up to 500,000 meticais.

The initiative also stands out for its inclusion of young filmmakers, directors and producers, promoting a new generation of talent in the Mozambican cultural market.

With the growing demand for audiovisual content and the sector's potential for expansion, CONFIAAC seeks to strengthen the industry and consolidate the role of creativity as an engine of economic and social development in the country.

The funding is an initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, through the National Institute for Cultural and Creative Industries (INICC).

Those interested can obtain the form by accessing a link provided by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism until January 17.
