PRM orders shooting of protesters, according to NGO

PRM ordena fuzilamento de manifestantes, segundo ONG

The order was given last Tuesday by the general commander of the police, Bernardino Rafael, in a video conference he held with the provincial commanders. According to one of the provincial commanders, they then shared the order with the district commanders. The death squads are spread out in plain clothes in towns and cities.

Some commanders are carrying out selective shootings so as not to create a big impact, as happened last week in the Namicopo neighborhood in Nampula, when the local police killed seven demonstrators and wounded just over a dozen.

This is confirmed by several amateur videos of plainclothes police shooting at protesters. In one of the videos (download here), one of the police officers orders his colleague to "put one out" of the demonstrators. "Put one out, boss, put just one out, hit just one (protester)," he orders amid several shots fired by members of the police, some in plain clothes.

In one of the amateur videos, (download here) recorded in a place we have yet to confirm, there are four bodies of dead young people. In another video, people appear to be dead. However, I heard that some were still alive. However, one died before being admitted to the emergency room. In one of the amateur videos, it is announced that if the people shot are not attended to, they could die. Minutes later, one of them was confirmed dead (download the video here).

In several cities, plainclothes police officers have used vehicles without license plates to shoot at demonstrators and then flee. One example can be seen in this videoThis is where members of the Rapid Intervention Unit, all armed, take off their uniforms, wear normal clothes and get into a Toyota double-cabin car. During the demonstrations, several vehicles without license plates are dispatched to the neighborhoods where there are outbreaks of demonstrations with orders to assassinate protesters.

In some cases, the police follow the demonstrators and shoot them in their own homes, as happened last week. Five protesters were shot dead in a home. In some videos, plainclothes police officers park cars in the streets where the protesters are passing and identify the main leaders, who are then shot (download the video here), said a police officer involved in the operations. The orders are mandatory. During last week's demonstrations in the city of Nampula, the police used health ambulances at night to attack the demonstrators (download the video here).

On Monday night (18/11), plainclothes police shot a citizen in the area known as Pilivi, in Matola (download the video here). The individual was shot in the head while riding in a car. (Text: CIP Elections)
