Military personnel from the Armed Forces and Defense of Mozambique (FADM) and officers from the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) lowered the barrels of their guns at some entry points to Maputo city and let the demonstrators continue towards the center of the capital.
The gesture was recorded in videos we had access to, in the Santa Isabel neighborhood of Marracuene, where the police force escorted the demonstrators to a point where they would be met by another armed detachment.
In the garden district, on the bridge where Avenida de Moçambique and Avenida Joaquim Chissano cross, several armoured vehicles gave way to the crowd heading towards the Mozambican Women's Organization (OMM) Square, in the Coop district.
Elsewhere, on the outskirts of Maputo, the military prevented the Rapid Intervention Unit (UIR) from blocking the march of demonstrators towards Maputo city.
There are reports of cases in the city of Maputo in which the military distributed face masks to the population.
Nevertheless, this morning the police fired real tear gas bullets. There are reports of two dead and a lady hit on the head.
