Mozambicans protest in Berlin against election results of October 9

Moçambicanos protestam em Berlim contra resultados eleitorais de 09 de Outubro

A group of Mozambican citizens living in the German capital will protest in the streets of Berlin today, asking for clarification from the National Electoral Commission (CNE) on the election results released on October 9.

The protests, led by the secretary of the PODEMOS party in Germany, Ermane Belém, will pass the federal chancellery and end in front of the Mozambican embassy.

In a DW publication, Belém emphasized that the demonstration will be in repudiation of the situation in Mozambique, resulting from the release of the electoral results of the October 9 elections, and the disrespect for freedom of expression and human rights.

"We want to alert the ambassadors, in this case the ambassador and the consul of Mozambique, so that they can send a message to the person who appointed them, who is the President of the Republic, to pay attention to what is happening," said the source.

According to the PODEMOS representative in Germany, "the aim is to reach the embassy, to present our repudiation of the situation that has happened to the Mozambican people". "Freedom of expression and human rights have been co-opted at the moment," he added.

"We want to show the German Chancellor what is happening in Mozambique, because we have seen the silence of some European countries. We need to show them what is happening and maybe they will pay a little attention to us, listen to us and look at what is happening in Mozambique," he continued.
