Filipe Nyusi denies presence of Rwandan military in Maputo

Filipe Nyusi desmente presença de militares ruandeses em Maputo

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, today denied allegations that there were Rwandan soldiers in Maputo city to suppress demonstrations against "electoral fraud".

According to Nyusi, the Rwandan troops don't have the patience to chase people who burn tires.

Nyusi was speaking this morning to a group of judicial bodies, and his remarks follow those of the Rwandan government spokeswoman, who also refuted the allegations.

On the other hand, he appeared to be open to dialog with independent presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane, as long as there is mutual trust. But he also said that the country must wait for the Constitutional Council to confirm the election results. (Source: Zitamar)
