The Mozambican capital Maputo was once again the scene of demonstrations "against the electoral fraud of October 9" and for the first time in one night, people repudiated the results.
The police, as usual, repelled the demonstrators by firing tear gas bullets at the people who were marching peacefully, even though they had set up barricades on the roads.
The situation was experienced in the Alto-Maé neighborhood, in central Maputo. The action by the police - who are supposed to be serving the interests of the Frelimo party, which has been in power for 48 years - was booed by the residents of the buildings on Av. Eduardo Mondlane, one of the main avenues in the country.
Videos on social media show the moment when the police fired tear gas, while people watching the action from their apartments repulsed it by hitting objects and directing derogatory words at the officers.
Other neighborhoods in the city, which woke up relatively calmly, saw clashes between police and demonstrators. Three people were killed. A child on his way home from school was shot. A policeman was stoned for killing a protester.
