This could be the end of a protracted court case involving the alleged natives of the Marracuene district and the Milhulamete company over space located on the extension of the ring road in Marracuene.
The Maputo City Judicial Court has just ruled in favor of the company Milhulamete regarding the Right of Use and Enjoyment of Land (DUAT) over Parcel No. 2675, with an area of over 700 hectares.
"It is legally valid and recognizes Milhulamete, Lda. as the legitimate holder of the rights to the said land. The court has also declared that there are no rights in favor of the invaders over the same area," said Abdul Nurdin, spokesman for the project.
During the same session, it was reinforced that the ruling condemns the Defendants to refrain from any conduct that could jeopardize the rights of Milhulamete, Lda, including the prohibition of demarcations, constructions or any acts that could be carried out exclusively by the company.
Also in the sentence handed down by the court, the immediate destruction of all the buildings illegally built by the Defendants on the disputed land was ordered. At today's press conference in Maputo City, Nurdin also spoke of the enormous damage that the company has suffered throughout this process.
"This conduct on the part of the invaders today has already proved to be very damaging for the Milhulamete company, as we know, we had a project there to plant several eucalyptus trees, all of which were uprooted, illegal subdivisions were made, land was bought and sold, which is completely forbidden in our country," he denounced.
However, despite all this, the Milhulamete company has shown itself to be open to talking to the invaders in order to reach an agreement before the demolition begins.
Milhulamete clarified that it has held the DUAT since 1998, when it was awarded the contract by the state through a public tender.
