Mozambican Denise Nicolau is on the shortlist for the second edition of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation's RE.GENERATION program..

In a publication by Radio France Internationale (RFI)Denise Nicolau, a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature, spoke about her work protecting the Indian Ocean and the mission of the Great Blue Wall, highlighting her contribution to protecting the environment and building a sustainable future.

According to the Mozambican biologist, she is "very proud" to be part of this program run by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

"When I was selected, it was a big surprise. I knew I was competing with at least 100 other potential candidates. I jumped at the chance! It really is a very important moment, it's the first opportunity to take a deep dive into what my identity is and what I think are the tools or the key to my personal development and also career development," said the Mozambican biologist.

Denise Nicolau works for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), and is responsible for the western Indian Ocean region, as regional manager for coastal and marine affairs, with special emphasis on the Great Blue Wall.

The Great Blue Wall is a strategic plan, born in the Western Indian Ocean region and led by Africa, officially launched at COP 26 (United Nations Climate Change Summit) in Glasgow.
