An individual who was part of a group of citizens, allegedly under the leadership of the PODEMOS political party, was shot after setting fire to a polling station in the town of Bano, Búzi district, in Sofala province, central Mozambique.

According to the spokesman for the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) in Sofala, Dércio Chacate, the group tried to sabotage two polling stations, which did not happen thanks to the prompt intervention of the police.

"In addition to the polling station, the individuals vandalized a PRM vehicle and physically assaulted the agents who were there. However, thanks to the promptness of the police, their action was thwarted and one of the vandals was shot in the lower left limb and is under medical care, and will later be taken to the cells," said Chacate, quoted by the newspaper.
