The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) registered 54 electoral offenses during the 45 days of campaigning for the elections on October 9 - already on Wednesday.
The information was given today in Maputo by the General Commander of the PRM, Bernardino Rafael, during a graduation ceremony to take stock of the days of the campaign that ended yesterday, Sunday.
Rafael made a positive assessment, despite the occurrences that included the destruction of voting material, threats with firearms, the burning of vehicles and physical assaults "which can contribute to the physical unfitness of some citizens".
He said that, overall, public tranquillity was a joint success between the PRM and the main players in the elections, the electoral bodies.
In the meantime, the Commander General of the PRM calls on police officers to carry out their duties with zeal and responsibility, seeking to maintain public order and safety.
"We ask for behavior, obedience, respect and, above all, collaboration with the structures that manage the electoral process in our country," he said.
