Irão lança mais de 200 mísseis contra Israel, que promete retaliação

Iran fired around 200 ballistic missiles towards Israeli territory on Tuesday, in the first direct attack following the escalation of tension between Israel and Hezbollah - the extremist group, although operating in Lebanon, is funded by the Iranian regime.

"Iran's attack continues. We ask you to remain in a protected space until further notice. The explosions you are hearing are interceptions or fallen projectiles. The air defense system is currently identifying and intercepting the launches," reads a note from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

According to Iran, the attack was in retaliation for the recent deaths of Hezbollah leaders in Lebanon. Iranian officials also argued that any counter-attack would result in "great destruction" for Israel.

However, he promised to retaliate against the Iranian onslaught. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Iran had made a "big mistake".

"Iran made a big mistake tonight and it will pay for it. The Iranian regime does not understand our determination to defend ourselves and our determination to retaliate against our enemies," he said.

Germany, Spain, France, the UK, Japan, Australia and the US have all sided with Israel and condemned the Iranian attack.

US President Joe Biden said the attack was intolerable and did not rule out joint retaliation with Israel against Iran
