The wife of Frelimo's secretary-general and presidential candidate, Gueta Chapo, witnessed the affiliation of fourteen Renamo dissidents to the ruling party in the Metarica district of Niassa province. 

The reasons for turning to Frelimo are diverse, including the lack of conditions in Renamo to offer them party T-shirts and hats.

"Besides, they can't build roads and the water we're drinking is thanks to Frelimo, as is the electricity. These difficulties have led me to conclude that I'm suffering, it's good to run away from this party and join Frelimo," said one of the converts, quoted by AIM.

He continued his electoral campaign in Niassa province, in the district of Metarica, where he led a popular rally to publicize Frelimo's electoral manifesto and its candidate, Daniel Chapo, on his way to victory on October 9.

At the rally, Gueta Chapo asked the population to vote for the Frelimo candidate because he is the right person to lead the country to a successful conclusion.

"He has already worked as an administrator and governor, so he has a lot of experience and they should trust him and his party," he recalled.
