The district of Mocímboa da Praia, in Cabo Delgado province, is a safe place despite the fact that on Saturday it was the scene of armed clashes between Rwandan military forces and Islamic State terrorists.
The local administrator has assured that the security situation is under control after the incident - which resulted in the death of a teenage girl - and so normal activities have resumed.
"Since we're in the campaign phase, we ask that the political parties go out into the neighborhoods, campaigning, asking for votes," Sérgio Cipriano said, quoted by the Mozambique Television.
He stressed that Saturday night's event was the first to affect a local authority.
Also in the context of the elections in Cabo Delgado, the provincial coordinator of the Podemos party, Assane Singano, accuses the electoral management bodies in some districts of refusing to accredit inspectors, according to the Electoral Bulletin of the Center for Public Integrity.
"They think the parties don't know the laws, but it's all the work of those in power to prevent democracy from advancing. We follow step by step all the changes that are being made to the electoral package," said Singano, calling on the heads of those electoral administration bodies to comply with the law.
