Terrorism/Cabo Delgado: PRM detains young man for spreading video of fake attack

Terrorismo/Cabo Delgado: PRM detém jovem por divulgar vídeo de falso ataque

A few days ago, the Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM) in Cabo Delgado province arrested a young man for spreading a video about a fake terrorist attack in the capital, Pemba.

The accused confesses that these are images of a fake terrorist attack in the city, and apologizes to the public.

He claims that he posted the images when he was drunk.

"When I made that video, I was thick. I was drinking. I filmed it for the sake of filming. I didn't expect it to happen. I apologize to all Mozambicans. The video isn't real," he said, quoted by STV.

On the other hand, the same citizen is, according to the PRM, one of the people involved in an attempt to sell firearms.

According to Eugénia Nhamussua, PRM spokesperson in Cabo Delgado, the firearm in question was stolen from a member of the defense and security forces. He explained that another citizen who had been accused of this crime was cleared due to insufficient evidence.
