Brasil projecta investimentos para desenvolver produção do arroz no Baixo Limpopo

Brazil wants to go ahead with a rice production project in the Lower Limpopo region, Gaza province, as part of cooperation aimed at boosting food production and agribusiness in Mozambique, the country's Ambassador in Maputo, Ademar Seabra da Cruz Júnior, revealed last week.

According to the diplomat, quoted by Terra MagazineA team from Embrapa, Brazil's largest agricultural research company, is due to arrive in the country soon for contacts that should culminate in cooperation to push the project forward.

"We want Brazilian rice farming to make a difference. The idea on the table is to bring a laboratory specializing in rice to Mozambique so that we can develop it," said Ademar Júnior.

It should be noted that the Lower Limpopo region has one of the country's greatest potentials for rice production in particular.
