Three people were seriously injured as a result of an apparent accident caused by Florindo Nyusi, son of the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi.

Among the victims are two schoolchildren who are already receiving medical assistance at Maputo Central Hospital.

One of the victims' relatives told MZNews that when the accident occurred, Florindo Nyusi was practicing prohibited maneuvers on the public highway without the consent of the authorities.

"The brother who helped us, and has a T-shirt with Florindo's blood on it, said they were rallying," he said, without much detail, noting, however, that Florindo "was thick [drunk]" and it wasn't the first time he'd driven through the area at high speed.

She also said that one of the children is in a serious condition due to a fractured head.

"My niece, her condition, I believe there is a head injury. She's conscious. She can speak, but she suffered a head injury because when she fell she fainted. The other girl is there, having an X-ray [Magnetic Resonance Imaging]".
