The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, has reappointed Lúcia da Luz Ribeiro as President of the Constitutional Council (CC).

Quoting a presidential statement, News states that the act was carried out by the Head of State after the legal deadline had passed.

This reappointment comes in an election year, after the CC's various decisions have been criticized by society for 'allegedly' legalizing fraudulent results from the October 2023 elections.

Lúcia Ribeiro has headed the CC since 2019, a body she joined when the organization began operating in 2003.
