Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa, S.A. (HCB), hereby informs its shareholders, holders of shares in the company on May 13, 2024, that it will pay dividends on May 23, 2024, for the financial year ending December 31, 2023, on which date they will be able to confirm receipt of the dividends at the banks where their shares are deposited in the ownership registration account.
For Series B shareholders, dividends are subject to personal income tax (IRPS), corporate income tax (IRPC) and any other charges levied by banks.
The distribution of dividends stems from compliance with the resolutions of the Ordinary General Meeting on the proposed appropriation of net profits of 13 billion Meticais, of which 55% were allocated to dividends, 35% to investment reserves and 10% to retained earnings.
Under these terms, HCB will pay dividends of around 6.3 billion meticais to the Mozambican state, the majority shareholder, and around 297 million meticais to the individuals, companies and national institutions that became part of the company's shareholder structure after the public offering in 2019. The payment of dividends to the state will contribute to the implementation of Mozambique's socio-economic development plans.
HCB is a private limited company which, guided by business principles and in agreement with its shareholders, will continue to implement the necessary reforms to guarantee the company's sustainability and adaptability to the challenges of the national and regional energy sector.
