On Friday, February 16, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, inaugurated 24 new houses, part of the Renascer Project, for young people in the district of Monapo, in Nampula province.

This is an initiative financed by the Housing Development Fund (FFH) of the Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Water Resources (MOPHRH).

The houses, according to Filipe Nyusi, will have a significant economic and social impact, both for the young people and for the community and the province in general.

Filipe Nyusi said that the progressive housing will provide young people with a safe and suitable home, stimulating their personal development and their ability to become productive members of society.

In addition, the project will contribute to the local economy, creating jobs for the construction industry and building materials suppliers.

"This initiative will boost the construction sector, stimulating economic growth and providing job opportunities for local young people," he said.

In another development, the President of the Republic referred to the importance of basic infrastructure (water, electricity, access roads) and social facilities (hospitals, schools, among others) for a good quality of life for the population:

"Decent housing substantially improves the health and well-being of citizens, and the country faces a major challenge in providing infrastructure, equipment and decent housing," he said.

Present on the occasion, the Minister for Public Works, Housing and Water Resources, Carlos Mesquita, said that the Renascer Project would not be limited to Monapo.

"We are at an advanced stage of concluding and expanding projects of this kind and others to various parts of the country, where the lack of adequate housing is also a reality," he said.

On the other hand, he said that partnerships between the public works sector and civil society were being consolidated, with the private sector seen as an essential element in overcoming the shortage of resources.

It should be noted that under this government initiative, around 769 houses have already been made available, benefiting around 3,163 people, with an investment of around 1.2 billion meticais.
