Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM-Sul) announced on Tuesday the suspension of train traffic along the Ressano Garcia line, due to the derailment of a train towing 80 wagons loaded with magnetite from South Africa.

According to the CFM statement, the accident took place near kilometer 72+800, on the Ressano Garcia line.

"The accident - which resulted in the total derailment of five wagons and an overturned one - prevents all traffic on the Ressano Garcia line, including passenger trains, between Movene and Ressano Garcia," reads the note released by the company.

The company also says that a Commission of Inquiry and a Rescue Team have been set up to investigate the causes of the accident, as well as restoring train traffic on the line.
