The head of Frelimo's parliamentary caucus on Wednesday deplored the behavior shown by Renamo MPs during the presentation of the Report on the General Situation of the State of the Nation 2023 by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi.
While the President of the Republic addressed the nation, Renamo MPs sang songs demanding that the "electoral truth" be restored and calling Frelimo "vote thieves".
The curses, along with songs popularized as "tru fafá", accompanied Filipe Nyusi's speech from start to finish, for more than two hours. The only pause came when the head of state asked for a minute's silence in memory of those who have died this year, particularly the victims of terrorism.
"The lesser note, which was a disgrace, is that Renamo was just like itself, the bad behavior it showed here does not dignify Renamo itself, its members and sympathizers and also affects the image of the Assembly of the Republic, which should be erected as the House of the People," said Sérgio Pantie, after the event.
Quoted by AIM, the parliamentarian emphasized that, "unfortunately Renamo remains the same as itself, and the Mozambican people were able to witness this during the three-hour presentation.
"Despite the noise, the heckling, the people across the country on radio and television were able to follow the President's speech in its entirety from start to finish," Pantie added.
