The most eagerly awaited social event in the capital city, "Maputo Pedalando", took place on Saturday (19), a municipal initiative with the support of the BCI, among other partners.
Through cycling, the initiative aims to promote sustainable mobility and healthy habits, as a mechanism for transforming the values of urbanity and citizenship.
The event was attended by hundreds of cyclists equipped with cycling gear. The professionals covered 65 km and the rest of the participants took part in a 5.5 km ride through the City of Acacias.
Present at the event, the Mayor of Maputo, Eneas Comiche, congratulated the participants, pedaled, awarded prizes to the best, and expressed the municipality's satisfaction with this environmentally friendly event.
BCI's director, Luís Aguiar, stressed that BCI remains attentive to the communities in which it operates and, on an ongoing basis, demonstrates an attitude of social responsibility, not only through its banking activity, but also through the countless actions and initiatives it has supported.
He also recalled that the BCI's social responsibility program includes sustainability as one of its strategic pillars and, for this reason, "we are pleased that the 'Maputo Pedalando' project has sustainability as one of its components, because betting on the use of bicycles means investing in sustainable transport, which contributes significantly to the fight against pollution, to the conservation of the environment, and to the physical well-being of users".
The winners received cash prizes, trophies and other distinctions in the men's and women's categories.
