NGO launches tomorrow report on the human rights situation in Mozambique

ONG lança amanhã relatório sobre a situação dos direitos humanos em Moçambique

Tomorrow, the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), a non-governmental organization, will launch a report on the human rights situation in the first three months of 2023 in Mozambique. This is a period marked by "several cases of violations in the country".

According to the director of the CDD, Adriano Nuvunga, the document gives a "brief x-ray" of the levels of human rights observance in Mozambique, at a time when the state continues to be the "major violator".

"The state has failed to guarantee effective access to justice for victims of human rights violations and abuses. Investigations are interminable and time-consuming and the courts do not respond to requests promptly, adequately and effectively," said Nuvunga, quoted by Lusa.

For NGOs, although the legal framework for the promotion of human rights in Mozambique continues to "improve", the Mozambican state is still fragile in its implementation process.
